Q. What are the requirements to join the Kalamazoo County RACES program?

   A.

• You must be an Amateur Radio Operator with a valid license.
• You must complete the state requirements.
• You must pass a background (LEIN) check conducted by KCSD.
• You must be approved by the Emergency Management director and by the Kalamazoo County RACES radio officer.
• You must attend at least 3 of the monthly RACES meetings, prior to being issued an ID card.
  

Q. How Do I join the program?

   A.

•    Begin by completing the RACES application form.
•    Attend  RACES meetings. 2nd Wednesday 7:00pm  KCSD EOC
•    Complete the State Requirements.
•    Upon completion of the prerequisites, an ID card will be issued.

Q. What are the new requirements?

NOTE: Current RACES requirements include having an amateur radio license, completion of FEMA IS-22, IS-100 and IS-700. Local Emergency Managers may have more requirements.
